Atkinson star show at Nutfield
Salfords travelled the short distance to Nutfield and came away with an excellent 29 run win.  Put into bat first openers Stone and Besley got salfords of to a fast start before Stone gloved a lifting delivery through to the keeper for 17. Salman Shah joined Besley at the crease and the pair progressed the score to 66 before Besley was harshly given out LBW for 19. John Musk came and went for 6 leaving salfords 76-3. Shah upped the tempo and raced to 65 before mistiming a drive to cover. Nero Kahawatte smashed 31 before Parker came back into the attack and removed his off stump. The score after 35 overs was 145-5 but the tail refused to wag as parker mopped up the tail taking 6-50 leaving salfords 166-9 of the maximum 48 overs.

Normally at nutfields small ground 166 is a below par score but salfords were confident their strong bowling line up would prove to be a handful particually as one end had a nasty ridge on a length and fast bowler Brett Atkinson was keen to exploit it. It was Besley 1-20 from the other end who made the breakthrough as a top edge was pouched by stone at square leg. Atkinson was now in full flow from the other end and was unplayable as he consitantly found bounce of a good length and one delivery thudded into the batsman glove to be taken by Palmer at short leg. The dangerous pollock was sent back after Atkinson pegged back his leg stump and the home side were in trouble at 36-3. Barnes was punishing anything wayward and soon passed his 50 but two further wickets fell as Palmer 1-24 and Steward 1-18 the score now 90-5. The game was nicely poised but with Barnes at the crease the home side were just favourites. Spinner Dave Lancaster 2-21 came into the attack and claimed the vital wicket of barnes for 57 and then sent back parker for nought. At 97-7 salfords sensed the game was now for the taking and Atkinson was called back into the attack. John Musk took a sharp catch at gully off Atkinson then the same bowler removed Hastain clean bowled. With 3 overs to go Nutfield tried to hold on for a draw but that man again Atkinson claimed the final wicket LBW to finish with impressive figures of 5-27. Salfords take 39pts from the game and rise a further 2 places in the table to 6th.
