Salfords travelled to Tadworth who had won both their opening games and turned in an excellent performance
On winning the toss skipper Rob Besley had no hesitation in asking the hosts to bat first. The pace of Atkinson 0-17 and the swing of Eaton 2-15 had tadworth in early trouble at 15-2. Luke Edmonds 1-11 continued where Atkinson left off and bowled with pace and accuracy. The introduction of Ian Catt turned the game massively in salfords favour bowling a brillaiant spell of 9-2-26-6 and aided by some brillant catching and fielding the home side were 80-9. Jenkins swung the bat for 20 before John Harrison pegged back his middle stump to bowl the hosts out for 96. It was a near perfect bowling and fielding display from salfords. Salfords had to bat 15 overs before tea and a fired up tadworth and Jenkins in particular soon had salfords in trouble at 12-3 but then Edmonds 25 and debutant Niroshan Kahawatte 32 took the attack to tadworth and the score raced along to 54-3 at tea. The first over after saw the pair yield another 14 runs but both batsman fell in succesive overs leaving the score 70-5. But John Harrison 16 and Tony Palmer 9 saw salfords safely home by 5 wkts for an impressive win. |
