Salfords win important fixture
Shere 107 all out    Salfords 111 - 6
Salfords travelled to shere in an important fixture as both sides were in search of points to stay clear of the bottom two.
Salfords skipper Rob Besley won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first on a green wicket. The salfords opening attack of Steward 0-12 and Atkinson 2-16 were virtually unplayable as shere struggled to 28 for 2 of 18 overs. Atkinson removed the opener after he edged through to wicket keeper Wood who took the catch head height despite standing some 20 yards back. An excellent slip catch by Ian Catt gave Atkinson his second wicket. Ian Catt 1-26 then took the wicket off the Shere captain the score now 34-3. The shere middle order then made a recovery and took the score onto 86 before a double bowling change saw the introduction of spinner Dave Lancaster 3-30 and expierenced Tony Palmer 4-18. Lancaster removed Witter for 46 and then the rest of the side collapsed against the excellent bowling of Lancaster and Palmer. Wicketkeeper Mark Wood excelled behind the stumps taking 3 catches and a stumping leaving shere 107 All Out.
After tea salfords looked to be positive chasing the small target but a rash shot from opener Beaver (9) saw salfords lose an early wicket. Martin Stone (17) fell LBW with the score 39-2. Besley joined speers and played some cracking shots before playing on to a short ball that didnt get up for 21 but the score had quickly raced to 70-3. Speers then edged to slip for 20 as did Shah for 6 and Palmer for 9  and salfords started to look and bit nervous. But Ian Catt 12 not out and Brett Atkinson 5 not out saw salfords home by 4 wkts to take 26 points from the game and allows salfords to comfortably sit just below mid table in the league.
