Salfords 223 All Out Ockham 224-6 Salfords travelled to league leaders Ockham and were put into bat on what looked a good batting pitch.
The salfords openers quickly moved onto 30 without loss from the first 7 overs but then Peter Speers was dismissed LBW for 18, then a run out and number 3 Broodryk caught and bowled for a duck left salfords wobling on 30 -3. Skipper Rob Besley and Tony Palmer set about rebuilding the innings and they took the score to 70 before palmer went for 16. Debutant Clinton Reabow looked dangerous reaching 21 but then fell unluckily being bowled of his pads. Besley now moved into top gear and started peppering the boundary. Besley fell for 65 and quick innings from Wallace(19) and Edmonds(28) moved salfords to 223 all out at tea. Salfords needed to make early breakthroughs or to stem the flow of runs but neither happened as opening bowlers Edmonds 0-19 and Steward 0-18 were seen off by the opening batsman. Palmer 0-32 bowled a better line but the introduction of Reabow 4-59 began to edge salfords back into the contest as he clean bowled 4 batsman. Besley 1-43 was also bowling well and with 10 overs remaining ockham were 186 - 5 and starting to look nervous. Another wicket fell at 210 with 3 overs to go and all 3 results were on the cards as ockham were clearly going for the win which gave salfords a chance to bowl the home side out. But it was ockham who emerged victourious as a leg bye saw the home side home in the final over. |
