Horsley 225-8  Salfords 226-9
Salfords travelled to Horsley and Send and on the first hot day of the season were sent in to the field after losing the toss. Paul Weller and Tony Palmer opened the attack and both bowled well with palmer taking 2-19. The horsley batsman then took the attack to salfords when the new ball started to lose its shine and raced to 123-2 before Brett Atkinson1-13 broke the partnership.Horsley pushed on again to 170 -3 but lost two wickets in two balls as Weller 3-58 returned for a second spell. With 10 overs to go the home side looked set for a big total on 201-5 but with Besley 2-25 and Weller bowling tightly restricted Horsley to 225-8 after 45 overs.
In reply salfords lost an early wicket but John Musk and Steve Harrington(20) recovered salfords to 62 before Harrington fell LBW. Big hitting Brett Atkinson (34) was promoted up the order and he quickly increased the scoring rate until he fell with the score 114-3. Tony Palmer (24) played well in partnership with Musk who had now passed his fifty but three quick wickets left salfords 172-6 still needing 54 from the last nine overs but importantly opener Musk was still at the crease.With 2 overs to go and  11 runs still needed disaster struck as Musk fell for a superb 92 leaving the salfords last pair at the wicket. The last over arrived with salfords 219-9 needing 7 to win. A quick single then a four through mid off by Steward (13no) and another single left wicketkeeper Wood facing with one run needed of two balls. The Horsley opening bowler who had returned for the final over came in and wood swung the bat the ball headed straight to mid off  but wood screamed for a run and made the single to the great delight of wood and his teammates. Salfords need just one win from the remaing four games to clinch the title after promotion was clinched last weekend.
