Salfords beat weather and Ockham |

Ockham 142-8 Salfords 143-5 The salfords team arrived at ockhams ground to see the unusual site of the groundsman drying the wicket and surronding area with a hoover after a torrentual downpour.
All credit must go to the groundsman and his helpers to get the pitch fit for play at 3.15. The toss was an important one to win with the wicket still damp and luck fell the way of salfords with captain Rob Besley having no hesitation in inserting the home team to bat first. The opening bowlers for salfords Connolly and Steward 1-24 bowled with great accuracy and scoring became very hard to come by with the score 28-2 after 16 overs with both bowlers taking a wicket each. Ockhams number 3 and 4 rebuilt the innings taking the score to 76 before Francis fell to the spin of Lancaster 3-48. Two more quick wickets from Lancaster and an excellent run out by Brett Atkinson saw ockham collapse to 102-6. Connolly 3-32 returned to the attack and removed Davies for 51 but a late flurry from the tail took ockham to a closing total of 142-8 from 40 overs in this reduced game of 75 overs. Salfords had 35 overs to score the runs at just over 4 an over but an early collapse left the result in the balance. Speers, Besley and Harrington fell cheaply with only Ricky Kidd (22) showing any resistance leaving salfords on 52-4 from 15 overs. But salfords dug in and then produced an outstanding partnership of 85 between John Musk (52 not out) and Tony Palmer 58 which took salfords to within 2 runs of their target. Musk was playing his first game for the first team this season and showed just why he is highly regarded in the club with some glorious strokeplay and it was a fitting end to the game when Musk hit the winning runs to gain a five wicket win for salfords who still mantain a 100% record and stay well clear at the top of the table some 82 points ahead.
