SALFORDS TRIUMPH OVER NEIGHBOURS
Salfords came away with victory in this local derby between the top 2 sides in the league. South Park won the toss and inserted salfords into bat on what looked like a very dodgy wicket. In fairness the wicket played ok but a combination off good bowling and poor shot selection saw salfords slump to an awful score of 66-8 with only skipper Rob Besley showing any resistance with 31.A rearguard action from Luke Edmonds (19) and Marc Connolly (25) saw salfords put on 51 for the last 2 wickets which took the salfords score to 117 all out, the first time this season the team had been bowled out.
Salfords came out after tea knowing there was no room for error and how they responded. M Connolly 3-18 and first team debutant Edmonds 2-13 bowled with plenty of pace and aggresion and with the aid of some smart catches from Steve Harrington and Andy Gurdin ripped through the home sides top order leaving them on 36-5. A change in the bowling saw salfords tighten their stranglehold as Graeme Steward 2-12 and Besley 3-3 polished of the lower order to send south park crashing to 55 all out. This excellent win leaves salfords 77 points clear at the top with 6 wins out of 6.   View scorecard at www.salfords.play-cricket.com
