SALFORDS 206-7 NUTFIELD 69 Salfords stayed top of the league and kept their 100% record intact with this resounding win against local rivals Nutfield.
Skipper Rob Besley won the toss and elected to bat first,but salfords soon found themselves in trouble at 36-3 against the new ball attack and some unpredictable bounce from the home track. Opener Tony Palmer (31) and Steve Harrington (26) steadied the ship but when both fell salfords were again in trouble at 89-5 after 28 overs. Graeme Steward (50)and Ian Catt (54no) then produced an excellent partnership of 88 at seven an over to swing the advantage back to salfords for the first time and a cameo innings from Paul Weller smashing 15 off the last over saw salfords declare at tea on 206-7. Salfords took to the field in confident mood sensing nutfield were somewhat dejected after the salfords batting heroics in their final 15 overs and went on the attack straight away with attacking fielding posistions and lively bowling. Connolly 3-32 was bowling with great speed and Steward 2-16 a superb line and length and soon nutfield were on the back foot at 50-5. A change of bowling strengthend salfords grip on the game with spinner Dave Lancaster producing a wonder spell 0f 5 overs 5 maidens 4 wickets for no runs with Paul Weller taking the last wicket. REDHILL 28 ALL OUT SALFORDS SUNDAY 30-2 Salfords sunday side demolished neighbours Redhill in a game that was finished in just 21 overs. Sunday skipper Vince Keaney inserted the opposistion and then watched his opening bowlers destroy the Redhill batting line up. Ryan Eaton produced an excellent spell of left arm swing bowling taking 6 for 10 off seven overs and Graeme Steward taking 3-12 from the other end. Steve Jones took the final wicket leaving Redhill somewhat shell shocked after being bowled out in just 15 overs. Salfords needed just 6.2 overs to knock off the runs for an eight wicket win. |
